LAHORE – Taking notice of the unavailability of water in interior parts of the City, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal directed Wasa to adopt foolproof measures for ensuring supply during Ramazan.

Interior areas, including Muhalla Liaquatabad, Tokaywala Chowk and Chabuk Sawaran, have been facing an acute water shortage. The DCO issued directives to ensure water supply to the affected areas.

RAMAZAN RELIEF:  The DCO said the administration is committed to providing relief to the masses during the holy month of Ramazan.

He said no one will be allowed to fleece people in these bazaars since the price control committees set up by the CDGL were playing their active role. He added that on the complaints of the supply of substandard flour to various Ramazan bazaars, stern action has been taken and the departments concerned were warned over the issue.

The DCO said the monitoring team had been working to ensure the controlled prices of vegetables and fruit while the bidding process at wholesale market was being watched. He added that the cold storages had been improved to curb the hoarding. He said the instructions had also been issued to incharge officers to maintain the high quality of edible items in the Ramazan bazaars.

Meanwhile, price checking in the city has been stepped up to ensure provision of essential items at controlled rate. It was stated by the DCO in a meeting with price magistrates. The DCO told the meeting that 50 shopkeepers had been sent to jail for the violation of Price Act and Rs.634m fine imposed on 616 shopkeepers. The DCO also warned against profiteering and hoarding during the holy month. He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the CDGL to provide relief to people.

LDA DIRECTORATE BIFURCATED: To improve its functioning and ensuring quick response to public complaints, the LDA Directorate of Estate Management, has been bifurcated. The two wings are Directorate of Estate Management-I and Directorate of Estate Management-II by and these will be located at LDA Johar Town Office.

The Directorate of Estate Management-I will look after the affairs of 23 schemes including MA Johar Town, Faisal Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Model Town Extension, Mustafa Town, Nawab Town, Old Rifle Range, Samanabad, 21-Acre Scheme, Punch Road Scheme, Multan Road Street Scheme, Islamia Park, Fazlia Colony, Arya Nagar, Sanda Homes, Data Nagar, Domoria Pul, Grain Market , Patiyala Waqeel Khana, Timber Market, Kapoor Thalla House, Faisal Town Houses / Flats, and Fruit and Vegetable Market, Ravi Road. It will also be responsible for auction of plots and petrol pump sites in all LDA schemes, housing society, public utility sites falling in above schemes and private housing schemes besides taking care of rented/leased properties falling in above schemes.

The Directorate of Estate Management-II will control 34 schemes including  Shadbagh, Montogomary Road, Railway Station, Gulberg, Mohlanwal Scheme, Allama Iqbal Town, New Garden Town, Sabzazar, Shadman, Chauburji Scheme, Qila Lachman Singh, Shahalam Gate Scheme (along with old schemes inside old city), Tajpura, Ghari Shahu, Gujjar Pura, Begumpura, Kashmir Egerton Road , Tollinton Market, Shah Jamal, Kabari Market, Saint Marry Park,  Mall, Muslim Town, Packages Area Quarters, Lawrence Road Flats, Rajgarh, Badamibagh, Shahalami, Shahdarah Bus Terminal, Walton Road, Match Factory, D-Point Car Parking Plaza, and Fruit and Vegetable Market Allama Iqbal Town and Ferozpur Road.

It will also look after matters related to employees quota and destitute quota, flats and quarters situated in Allama Iqbal Town, Model Town Extension, New Muslim Town and constructed houses , rented/leased properties falling in above schemes and public utility sites falling in above schemes.
