PESHAWAR - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is likely to call a meeting of the party’s central leaders to discuss growing differences in leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter over party top slots in the province.

Sources said the differences between PML-N, KPK, President Pir Sabir Shah and PML-N, KPK Youth Wing, President Capt (Retd) Safdar have intensified over some top provincial slots, adding that the issue has become so complicated that only central president of the party could resolve it.

Despite this that both the leaders have recently met each other in Peshawar, these rivalries remain still intact and no positive signal has been surfaced that the issue would be resolved amicably. The party leaders and workers now have close eye on the upcoming visit of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which he is likely to announce some important decisions.

Sources added that some differences had started to erupt in 2007 when PML-N Mansehra President Aslam Baffa removed his district general secretary Zafar Mehmood. Capt (Retd) Safdar, challenging the authority of the district president, appointed the sacked secretary as president of youth wing of the party in the district.

According to some sources, PML-N General Secretary, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra is also unhappy with the party provincial General Secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak due to some party designations. Similarly, MNA Kabir Khan and his brother MPA Munawar Khan had also some objections over the same issues.

After the entry of Amir Muaqam, hundreds of workers has joined Pakistan Muslim League (N) and these workers are also demanding due status in the party and pushing Amir Muqam to take full advantage of the recent difference between Pir Sabir Shah and captain retired Safdar. Both the candidates are very near to Party president Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in term of party and family relation.

Though Pir Sabir Shah has served the party for long period of time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as president but captain retired Safdar is also son in law of Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif. In this time tough decision pending to Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to peacefully resolve these party issues and make such a choice, which is acceptable to all party workers.

It is expected that soon Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif will visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to chalk out future line of action and keep the party a cohesive block against the rival parties particularly against the alarming popularity of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the upcoming general election.

Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has stopped both the leader from cross statements and directed them to respect the party discipline.
