ISLAMABAD - Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday ordered the Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Ltd to deposit Rs. 6,525,489/- out of Rs 9,048,000/- to NAB within a week and the remaining amount within 15 days.

M Akbar Tarar, Additional Prosecutor General NAB, appeared before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this case on Thursday.  On April 04, 2007 NAB had arrested Sibatul Hassan Gillani alias Double Shah in a case of cheating public at large. NAB Punjab recovered Rs. 20 million from Raja Mukhtarul Hassan through Voluntary Returnwhile recovery of remaining amount was in progress.

In the meantime one of the accused approached Lahore High Court . On March 11, 2010 LHC had directed the Manager PPCBL to hand over the amount to NAB authorities, which was put under caution by NAB and the petition was disposed of.

Meanwhile, PPCBL filed a petition in Supreme Court taking the plea that the learned Division Bench had solely believed on the submission of investigation officer.  The SC accepting NAB’s stance ordered the bank to deposit the defrauded amount to the bureau.
