ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a section officer of the Ministry of Interior for allegedly issuing directions without the approval of the competent authority in connection with a case of bringing back 09 Pakistani convicts from Thailand.

A statement of the Ministry of Interior said that section officer had been found in issuing illegal orders to the provincial governments and other government bodies. “The FIA has arrested section officer and further investigations were under way,” the ministry said. According to sources, the official had been found involved issuing orders to the provincial governments after 09 convicts were brought back in Pakistan.

Minister of Interior earlier had said that these convicts had been brought back in the country through Transfer of Offenders Treaty with the help of some officials of Pakistani Embassy in Bagkok and without the mandatory approval of his ministry.
