Los Angeles - It’s been a busy week for breaking entertainment news... Jeremy Clarkson was sacked from the BBC, Zayn Malik quit One Direction, and Downtown Abbey confirmed it will come to an end after its sixth series...And now (deep breath) Kim Kardashian West is no longer a blonde...

Yes, the reality TV star has gone back to her natural black hair colour - without any prior warning - which she debuted as she hit the gym with toddler daughter North West. But panic not, for the 34-year-old star has already immortalised her platinum locks for an Elle France cover shoot.

Kardashian West shared images of the photoshoot on her Instagram page, adding the caption: “I loved this shoot for Elle France Magazine on stands tomorrow! Glam- @jenatkinhair @robscheppy” The publication also features an interview with Kardashian West - who models French haute couture fashion house Balmain in the shoot - conducted by French director Céline Sciamma.

Describing Kardashian as an “icon”, the magazine states in its intro: “You should know that this exclusive shooting has been made possible by the strong links that bound Kim Kardashian to French house Balmain.

“Exposed for nearly ten years with the programme Keeping Up With The Kardashians and omnipresent on social networks, Kim seems to give everything. Yet this is a different creature, more discreet, attentive, caring and in exchange, has met the director Sciamma for us in an exclusive interview. It draws us a portrait of this icon, asked about her feminism.

“Very close to Olivier Rousteing, the French designer of Balmain, Kim became his friend and his muse. The young man takes advantage of this special issue to answer our questions about their friendship on fashion and Kim, this war of modern times that is as political as subversive.”
