LAHORE - The Lahore High Court gave last chance to the Punjab government on Friday for the payment of pension to the senior citizens and adjourned the proceedings till April 02.

Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal appeared in the court and requested the judge to give a chance to approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the interpretation of its earlier order regarding the payment of pensioners.

However, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah observed that it was the time to pay the pensions their due payment and SC order was clear on it. The judge gave last chance to the chief secretary for the implementation of court orders with directions to submit progress report on the next hearing fixed as April 02.

Meanwhile, the LHC adjourned till April 03, the hearing of a petition seeking conversion of Fatima Jinnah Medical College into a university.

A law officer told the judge that a bill had been moved to the Punjab Assembly about the conversion of the said college into medical university.
