LAHORE - Excise and Taxation (E&T) department on Friday raided a concert of renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali.

The authorities claimed that that concert organisers had obtained the NOC in the name of Charity Show, under the aegis of Walled City Authority, but during the raid it was found to be a commercial show and the tickets were sold at the rate of Rs3000 to 8000 per head.

E&T not only issued tax notice of Rs1.6 million to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan but also imposed fine of Rs1.6m on Rahat and management of WCA for deceiving the authorities and obtaining NOC fraudulently. E&T has summoned WCA management and Rahat Fateh Ali in this regard.
