LAHORE - Descon and Honda teams won the opening matches of the 2nd Premier Super League, which commenced here at the Race Course Cricket Ground. In the first match of the league, Honda emerged winners against 3D Modeling after beating them by 17 runs. Honda piled up a good total of 161 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets. 3D Modeling couldn’t reply well as no major contributions came from their batsmen and they were all out for 144 runs. Mazhar Hussein from Honda played an impressive knock of 63 runs and was given away man-of-the-match award for his good batting display. In the second match of the league, Descon proved too hot for ICI Pakistan and outclassed them by 79 runs. Descon captain Faheem Mukhtar Butt won the toss and decided to bat first. They managed to post a huge total of 188 runs with every batsman contributing significant runs in their team’s total. Chasing the decent target of 189 runs, the innings of ICI Pakistan was folded at paltry 109 runs. For Descon, Syed Mujahid Ali batted brilliantly and contributed with unbeaten 63 runs to earn player-of-the-match award. The other encounters of the tournament will be played next week.–Staff Reporter
