Police (Operations) Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Abdul Qadir Qamar on Wednesday called on the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of Islamabad Union Councils and assured them to resolve the public issues on priority basis.

During the meeting, the AIG (Operations) listened to the problems of public representatives and said that efforts were underway to curb crime, including drug peddling activities, street crime and burglaries.

Both the sides discussed the efforts to curb drug peddling activities at educational institutions of Islamabad, traffic flow and parking system at main markets and functioning of guest houses as well as hostels in the city.

Qamar said that reforms in police were underway after assumption of charge by Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar as Islamabad IGP and effective policing measures have been planned against criminal activities.

He also said that action is being taken against land grabbers and Islamabad SSP (operations) would hold the next ‘Open Kutchery’ at Bhara Kau police station to listen to complaints about illegal occupation on lands.
