LAHORE (PPI) - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said that the parliaments committee would play a historic role in ending the 17th amendment, while PML-N would not withdraw demand for trial against Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution. Nawaz Sharif stated this while talking to a delegation of party workers, led by PML-N Punjabs joint secretary Arshad Malik and Malik Ramzan from Sahiwal here on Friday. Nawaz Sharif said PML-N would continue to play its role for the supremacy of the democracy and parliament in the country. In this connection, he said, it was constantly in touch with all political parties in and outside the parliament. He said that the Punjab government was expeditiously working to provide basic medical and educational facilities to people. He said the sugar and flour were being provided in Ramazan bazaars on cheap rates, while the crackdown on profiteers and hoarders was also under way and their arrests would help decrease in prices of edibles. Nawaz Sharif stressed the party workers to wage struggle for support of poor and downtrodden segments of society and to strengthen the PML-N on the grassroots level. Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to Ramazan Bazaar set up at Tankiwali Ground Bahawalpur. He went to each stall and checked the standard and prices of fruits and vegetables and other essential items. Nawaz also inquired from Commissioner Bahawalpur Mushtaq Ahmad about details in this regard. He especially asked from the people about supply and quality of various items including sugar and atta. Nawaz Sharif inspected fair price shop of atta. He was informed that all items are available to the consumers at less than the price of open market while their quality is also better. Nawaz appreciated the arrangements and efficiency of Commissioner, DCO and TMO of the City. Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, MNA Ch Saud Majeed, former MNA and Chairman Board of Management QMC Seth Aqeelur Rehman, Member Board of Revenue Arshad Bhatti, administrative officers, PML workers and traders were present on this occasion. During surprise visit of Nawaz to Ramazan Bazaar, a woman of Faisal Colony complained to PML-N Quaid that her family had obtained a loan from House Building Finance Corporation but she is unable to repay and amount of Rs20,000 is still outstanding. MNA Ch Saud Majeed gave Rs20000 to the woman from his own pocket for the repayment of the loan. The PML workers on this occasion raised loud slogans in favour of Nawaz Sharif. Local leaders including Tahir Mahmood Janbaz, Qayyum Azam and Saad Masud were also present on this occasion.
