LAHORE - The students of Punjab University Department of Electrical Engineering have shown outstanding performance and won all the three positions in All Pakistan Project Exhibition (APPE) contests held at Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad.

Mohsin-e-Pakistan Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan gave away prizes to winners. A team comprising Muhammad Tayyab, Zafar Ali, Muhammad Imran and Faisal Shahzad won 1st position with cash prize worth Rs 40,000 for their project “Blimp Based Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Surveillance”. Kashif Sohail, Zeeshan Arshad, Baber Hassan and Ahsan Jahangir won 2nd position with cash prize worth Rs 25,000 for their project “Hybrid Energy System” while the team comprising Muhammad Azeem Javed, Mahzaib Jamil and Abdul Basit got 3rd position with cash prize worth Rs 15, 000 for their project “Mobility Assistive Intelligent Hybrid Automobile for Impaired People”.

Assistant Prof Umer Farooq supervised the students in this contest. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated the College Principal Prof Dr Rafiq Ahmed, Assistant Prof Umer Farooq and students on their great achievement and advised them to keep it up.

CONVOCATION: Punjab University’s 121st convocation will be held today (Saturday) at Faisal Auditorium at 10am. Punjab Governor/Chancellor Makh-

doom Ahmed Mahmood will be chief guest on the occasion.

For the first time in the history of Punjab University, the proceedings of convocation will be held in national language Urdu. On Friday, full dress rehearsal of the convocation was held Faisal Auditorium in which Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Registrar Prof Dr Khan Raas Masood, Additional Controller Examinations Ahmed Ali Chatha, all deans of faculties, principles of colleges, directors of Institutes, heads of departments, PhD scholars, MPhil scholars, Masters degree program and BS Honors degree program gold medalists etc participated.

PHD AWARDED: Punjab University has awarded 04 PhD degrees to the scholars in which Azeem Azhar Raja S/o Raja Muhammad Azhar Khan in the subject of Economics after approval of his thesis entitled “Analysis of Subsistence Agriculture in Rain Fed Areas with Special Emphasis on Punjab”, Mahmood Saba S/o Muhammad Rafique in the subject of Molecular Biology after approval of his thesis entitled “Effect of Caloric Restriction on Stem Cells for the Repair of Aged Heart’’, Amani Moazzam Baig Mirza D/o Moazzam Baig Mirza in the subject of Administrative Sciences after approval of her thesis entitled “Gender and Organizational Practices in Public Sector Organization: A Case of University of Punjab, Lahore” and Qurattulain Tahirah D/o Muhammad Kafayat Ullah in the subject of Arabic after approval of her thesis entitled “Children’s Literature of Kamil Kilani and Hakeem Muhammad Saeed (A Comparative Study)”.

SCHEDULE: Punjab University examination department has notified that the BA/BSc annual examination 2013 will commence with effect from 04th April, 2013.

DATE SHEET: Punjab University Examinations Department has issued revised written, practical and viva voce examination date sheet for the M.Ed (Visual Impairment) 2nd annual 2011, (session 2010-11) and annual 2012 (session 2011-12) to be held in January/February 2013.
