ISLAMABAD - Defending champions Army along with POF, Wapda and PAF registered victories on the second day of the National Basketball Championship 2015 here at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Monday.

In the first match of the day, POF faced tough resistance from Faisalabad before winning the encounter 105-77. The match was evenly poised in the first two quarters of the match as POF was leading in both quarters, but the lead was very slim and Faisalabad was always at the touching distance. In the first quarter, POF scored 22 baskets, while Faisalabad managed 19 while in the second quarter, POF managed 23 baskets and Faisalabad scored 20. After two quarters, POF was leading by just six baskets.

POF coach made three tactical changes in the beginning of the third quarter which paid great dividend as POF scored 40 baskets in the third quarter, while Faisalabad managed only 16. The fourth and last quarter saw POF managing 20 baskets to take their tally to 105, but Faisalabad outshined POF in the last quarter scoring 22 baskets to bring their tally 77. But it was too little to late as POF won the match with a decent margin. Ijaz, Abid and Ishrat scored 24 baskets each for the winners, while Faisal scored 25 baskets and Usman 14 for Faisalabad.

In the second match of the day, Wapda was stretched to the limit by Hazara, who went down fighting 115-71. Wapda scored 57 (32 and 25) baskets in the first two quarters while Hazara team scored 35 (20 and 15) baskets. Wapda extended their lead in the third quarter, scoring 30 baskets, while Hazara added 20. Wapda scored 28 baskets in the last quarter, while Hazara added 16. Abid scored 24 and Alijah 23 baskets for the winners, while Hassan managed 24 and Waqas 22 baskets for the losers.

In the third match of the day, PAF hammered Lahore 111-52. PAF scored 51 baskets in the first two quarters, while Lahore managed 25. PAF added another 60 baskets in the last two quarters, while Lahore added 27. Akhtar scored 25 baskets for the winners, while Prem managed 20 and Ahmed 12 baskets for the losers.

In the fourth and last match of the day, Army routed HEC 107-59. Army managed 56 baskets in first two quarters as compare to 26 by HEC, while Army scored further 51 baskets in last two quarters of the match and HEC could add another 33. Tughlab scored 25, Naimat 20 and Atif 20 baskets for the winners, while Zahid and Shehryar scored 15 and 10 baskets respectively for the losers.
