An influential landlord of allegedly chopped off both hands of a youth over his refusal to work at his farmlands.

The landlord, identified as Rana Israr, is a PTI leader and has been elected as nazim in the past, media reports said on Monday.

According to farm labourer Siddique, father of 16-year-old Abu Bakar, and resident of Manawala, Sheikhupura, Rana Israr had hired his son’s services for doing work on his farmland as field worker for one year. On completion of one year, Abu Bakar returned to his village. He claimed that the landlord along with his med allegedly abducted Abu Bakar some five months ago, claiming that he (Abu Bakar) had not repaid outstanding dues of Rs15,000 to him. They chained him and made him work in farmlands for three months,” he claimed.

After Abu Bakar cleared the debt by working at the farm and tried to return to his home, Israr and his men allegedly stopped him from going back. However, upon his refusal, the landlord and his men allegedly cut his hands with a cutter, he alleged.

The victim along with his family members approached Sheikhupura DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha who initiated an investigation into the matter. Taking notice of the incident, the Punjab chief minister ordered the DPO to arrest the culprit immediately.

TWO KILLED IN ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed and 16 others injured in two separate road accidents on Lahore Road in Sheikhupura on Monday.

A speeding trailer hit a motorcycle, killing two on the spot while another was injured. The deceased were identified as Naveed and Younus. The deceased and the injured were shifted to a hospital. The police arrested the trailer driver.

In another accident, 15 passengers were injured near Qilla Satar Shah area. The mishap occurred when a speeding coaster hit a truck, leaving 15 passengers injured who were shifted to DHQ Hospital.
