ISLAMABAD - Zahir Shah made huge upset in the 9TH DG Rangers (Sindh) National Squash Championship 2015, as he ousted Sheikh Saqib Yousaf in straight games in the second round match played Sindh Rangers Jahangir Khan Squash Complex North Nazimabad Karachi on Monday.

Right from the start, Zahir kept Saqib on the run and taught him a squash lesson. Zahir won the first game 11-2 easily but Saqib resisted in the second game before Zahir winning it 11-7 while in the third game, it was once again Zahir who played exceptionally and won it 11-3, thus set up quarterfinal date with veteran Farhan Mehboob. Other seeded players had easy sailing into the quarterfinals.

Top seed Nasir Iqbal outclassed Ali Bokhari 3-0 in just 27 minutes, winning by 11-7, 11-2, 11-2. M Asim Khan beat Safeer Khan 11-6, 11-3, 11-9, Raees Khan beat Asif Khalil 8-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-3, Tayyab Aslam beat Bilal Zakir 11-6, 12-10, 11-2, Farhan Mehboob beat Kashif Asif 11-3, 13-11, 11-1, Waqar Mehboob beat Abbas Shoukat 3-1, winning by 13-15, 11-9, 12-10, 11-8, while second seed Farhan Zaman beat Zeeshan Khan 11-3, 11-5, 11-7.

There was no surprise in the female draw, as all the seeded players had smooth sailing into the quarterfinals. Top seed Sadia Gul was taken to task by Madina Zafar, who went down fighting in four hard-fought games. Sadia won by 12-10, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10. Rushana Mehboob beat Zahab Kamal Khan 11-2, 11-0, 11-6, Komal beat Aiman Shahbaz 11-9, 11-9, 12-10, Muqaddas Ashraf beat Noor Ul Ain Ejaz 11-4, 11-6, 11-8, Saima Shoukat beat Noor Ul Huda 11-4, 11-4, 8-11, 11-7, Faiza Zafar beat Anam Aziz 11-6, 11-3, 11-4, Riffat Khan beat Amna Fayyaz 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 and Sammar Anjum beat Maira Saleem 11-4, 11-1, 11-2.
