The district administration directed the medical officers and paramedical staff of the District Headquarters Hospital to perform their duties with commitment or face punishment in case of negligence.

Addressing doctors and paramedical staff at the DHQ Hospital, the district coordination officer said that it is duty of the government to provide better healthcare for the people in the government hospitals. The administration is providing medicines and other equipments in the hospitals to ensure better medical treatment. He said that he would show zero tolerance to those found indifferent in the performance of their duty and appreciate those who perform their duties with dedication.

He further said those medical companies failed to provide medicines according to the agreement would be blacklisted. He directed the medical superintendent to monitor the attendance of staff and take suitable action against absentees.

Later, the DCO along with DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar visited different brick kilns and warned the owners to refrain from hiring the services of children below 14 years. He was told by the District Officer Labour Ghulam Shabbir Kalyar that there are 88 registered brick kilns in the district and child labour has been totally eliminated in the district. He further said that seven brick kilns owners have been arrested for violating Child Labour Act.

The DCO and DPO also visited Government Boys College, District Public School and a private school to know the security arrangements made to meet any eventuality. They stressed a need for further improvement in the security arrangements. The DPO told the DCO that mock exercises are being conducted in different educational institutions to create awareness of students and teachers. DEATH: Dr Fiaz Ahmad, a renowned orthopaedic and philanthropist of the district, died of cardiac arrest. He was 48. His Nimaz-i-Janaza was offered twice and was laid to rest in the Gahri Awan graveyard in the presence of thousands his admirers, social and political workers and officers of the district. ‘Qul Khawani will be held at 10:00 am in Masjid Saddiqia Gujranwala road on Sunday.
