ISLAMABAD - A sizeable amount of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funds lapsed, as some MNAs, including Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, did not furnish any development scheme against Rs 10 million, allocated for the purpose to each one of them. According to the record available with TheNation, the MNAs had been allocated Rs 10 million each, under the PWP-1 during the financial year 2008-09. Under the scheme, the MNAs were to submit the development schemes worth this amount but some of the MNAs did not furnish any scheme at all. and if some of them submitted, their schemes were deferred due to late or incomplete submissions. The MNAs from Punjab whose funds lapsed included Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Raja Mohammad Safdar Khan, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Ch Imtiaz Safdar Warriach, Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, Makhdoom Shabuddin, Farzana Raja and Bhushra Rehman. The official record showed that a total of Rs 1830 million were allocated for 183 MNAs from Punjab and they had utilised Rs 1462.78 million, 81 per cent of the total allocation.
