LAHORE - A resident of Raiwind and leader of a political party has alleged that Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) Lahore Chaudhry Shafiq Gujjar while misusing his powers has implicated him and his family members in several fake criminal cases. He claimed that the SSP (Operations) wanted to kill him in fake encounters due to political rivalry. He has appealed to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the highhandedness of the SSP and his brother who is UC Nazim in City Raiwind. He also demanded immediate suspension and transfer of the SSP and his two subordinates-cum-accomplices, DSP Imtiaz Bhalli and SHO Farooq Awan. Naseer Ahmad levelled these allegations against SSP (Operations) Ch Shafiq Gujjar in a Press conference here Tuesday. He said that he was residing in Chak-62, Raiwind and enjoyed good repute in the area. He said that he also contested in 2008 general elections for PP-161 constituency from his party platform. He stated that his (Naseers) brother Khalid Mahmood was preparing to contest local body election wherein SSPs brother also took part. Naseer alleged that SSP Shafiq Gujjar misused his powers and asked his family to withdraw from the said elections. He said that the SSP was using his authority to give political benefits to his brother. For this purpose, he said, he was putting pressure through DSP City Raiwind Circle Imtiaz Bhalli and SHO Chuhng Farooq Awan on his family. Naseer alleged that SSP had implicated him, his brother Khalid Mahmood and other family members in several fake cases. Giving details about the FIRs registered against him and his family members, Naseer said a case (470/09) was registered against his brothers in Chung Police Station under section 448, 511, 148, 149, 324, 506 of the PPC and 7 ATA. On June 26, 2006 when he and his brothers reached the police station to join investigations, the SHO Chung arrested them despite the fact that they had been granted bail in the said case. The said official illegally confined and subjected them to severe torture at the behest of SSP Shafiq Gujjar, he alleged. He added that the SHO later nominated them in another case (496/09) to give them exemplary punishment. Naseer further revealed that the SSP again implicated him and his brother Khalid Mahmood in another criminal case (498/09) registered under sections 448, 342, 511 and 395 of the PPC. He said the SSP (Operations) was planning to declare him and his family members proclaimed offenders and to kill them in a fake encounter. When contacted, the SSP strongly denied all the allegations, saying that Naseer was involved in land grabbing and other criminal activities. He also denied he implicated him in fake criminal cases. He said Naseer and his brother were contesting elections from separate areas and cases had been registered against them on complaints of locals.
