President Asif Ali Zardari who arrived here Tuesday night on a three-day official visit will meet his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon today. The two leaders in their meeting would discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation in energy and power sector, the channel adds. President Zardari will also visit Friendship Complex besides meeting with various delegations. Earlier, the President was given a red carpet welcome when he arrived here Tuesday on a state visit to Tajikistan to hold bilateral talks with his Tajik counterpart and for a trilateral and quadrilateral summit involving the Presidents of Afghanistan and Russia. The President was received at Dushanbe airport by Tajik Prime Minister Okil Okilov and senior officials of Tajikistan. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistans Ambassador to Tajikistan and senior embassy officials were also present on the occasion. A smartly turned-out contingent presented salute to him at the airport. The President was accompanied by Interior Minister, Commerce Minister, Industries Minister and other senior officials. Formal welcome ceremony for the President will be held at Qasr-e-Millet (Palace of the Nation) today. President Zardari during his three-day visit will hold wide ranging parleys with Tajik leadership for increased cooperation in various fields including commerce, trade, economy, investment and energy. The President will also hold trilateral and quadrilateral meetings with the leaders of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and the Russian Federation. Besides discussion on the ways and means to enhance regional cooperation in trade, energy, communication and transportation, the leaders of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Russia are expected to deliberate on the challenges facing the region including terrorism and production and trafficking of drugs and illicit weapons.
