ISLAMABAD (APP) - High Government and Sports officials will be present at the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports here on Thursday. Committee sources confirmed that Interior Minister Rehman Malik will be among the officials present at the meeting. Jamshed Ahmed Dasti, MNA, Chairman of National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports, will chair the meeting which will thoroughly discuss the prevaling sports scenario in the country. Interior Minister Rehman Malik, to be aided by Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah, will explain the position of personnel who were responsible for the security of Sri Lankan cricket team at Lahore. The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt, will be grilled as to why fast bowler Shoaib Akhter still finds himself out of the Pakistan cricket team despite reportedly regaining physical fitness. The Secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation, Muhammad Asif Bajwa, will seek to clarify his position regarding the allegations levelled against his person by fellow former Olympian Mansoor Ahmed. The meeting will start its proceedings sharp at 2.00 p.m. Thursday, the sources said.
