SARGODHA - Six officers of the Khushab District Health Department including Director PMDG program and four Executive District Officers Health (EDOs) were caught by Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on the charges of embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs9 million, here the other day.

The ACE took the action on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Sources in the Anti-Corruption Establishment told The Nation that Riaz Shaheen, a resident of Sandral District Khushab had filed an application, seeking a thorough investigation against the officials for embezzling funds. The ACE, after an enquiry, registered a case against the accused.

The Anti-Corruption Police arrested Dr Nasir Khan, Dr Shaukat Saleem, Dr Abdul Hameed, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Dr Sajjad Aaheer, Accountant Muhammad Yousaf and Nasrullah.

Later, physical remand of all the accused was obtained from a court.
