KARACHI - A Lyari gangster was killed while his accomplice was arrested in an encounter with police in Dalmia area on Thursday in the limits of Aziz Bhatti Police Station.Police said Moosa Baloch alias Shaka was killed in firing at Hindu Para Dalmia, after they successfully entered neighbourhood after Wednesday’s attack on police van. SHO Tariq Baig said that firing lasted for four hours and after that we recovered the body of one of the armed men, who was identified as Moosa Baloch alias Shaka, a notorious gangster. He said Baloch was wanted in more than 50 cases including extortion, kidnapping for ransom, armed robberies and murder. He was a resident of Jehanabad Lyari and was operating his gang from Dalmia.The SHO said that we have recovered four pistols and two hand grenades during search operation. He said four suspects have also been arrested including Sohail alias Mullah, who was also wanted in several criminal cases and was known member of the Lyari gang. He said the seven pickets of armed policemen had been set up on entrance and exit of the affected areas, which would be manned round the clock. In Thursday’s action, more than 100 policemen of different police stations of the town and police’s Rapid Response Force took part, added Inspector Baig.It is pertinent to mention that the police conducted operation after attack on police mobile on Wednesday which claimed two lives in Mujahid Colony Dalmia.
