RAWALPINDI – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Haji Habib-ur-Rehman has said that police officers should entertain public complaints by holding Open Kutcheries from police station to district level and the grievances of the people must be redressed on top priority basis.

He added that the police should also work vigorously for the apprehension of culprits involved in heinous crimes.

He lauded the overall performance of police in districts of Rawalpindi range and said that security, eradication of crime, arrest of proclaimed offenders and anti law elements should be given special priority.

The IG underlined the need for giving special attention towards training of police officers at Police College Sihala as per requirements of the present time.

Haji Habib-ur-Rehman was presiding a high-level meeting of police officers of Rawalpindi Range here on Thursday.

RPO Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair, Commandant Police College Sihala DIG Ghulam Rasool Zahid, CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DPOs of Attock, Jhelum , Chakwal and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Commandant Police College Sihala briefed IG Police about training facilities available in the college, while CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar and DPOs of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal Hilal Khan, Dar Ali Khatak and Kashif Mushtaq Kannjoo gave briefing about the overall crime situation in the districts of their respective jurisdictions.

Habib directed the police officers to demonstrate politeness and decency towards citizens coming to their offices and police stations for redressal of their complaints. He expressed his satisfaction on decrease in crime during the first six months of the current year in the range as compared to that of first half of the last year.

He said that public complaints should be redressed at police station level so that people may get relief at the earliest and they should not have to contact at senior police officers level. He expressed his satisfaction on overall decrease in crime especially in cases of abduction for ransom in all districts of Rawalpindi range.

He directed police officers to carry on hot pursuit of the criminals till their arrest as it was the prime duty of the police to protect life, property and respect of the citizens. IG Police during the briefing about training facilities at Police College Sihala promised to take steps and pursue the cases regarding provision of necessary development funds for the college promised by the government.

He also directed to take steps for further improving the training courses and modules with a view to ensure preparedness of the police officers to confront the challenges of terrorism, crime and other law and order problems.

Commandant Police College Sihala, while briefing the IG Police, informed that training is imparted to probationers in Police college Siahala besides special training of junior command course, advance command course and upper class training courses.

He added that special training courses and modules have been prepared for the trainees of all courses at the college level. He also mentioned that high caliber experts and professionals are invited for special lectures on intelligence techniques, leadership and ethical training and collaboration with media.
