ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Law Minister Farooq Naek on Thursday briefed ambassadors of different countries about prevailing political situation in the country.

US Ambassador Cameron Munter and Indian High Commissioner to Islamabad Sharat Sabharwal were also present on the occasion.

The law minister told the ambassadors that there was no political crisis in Pakistan. However, he said the democracy was infant in Pakistan and often the situation seemed like a crisis.

Naek reiterated the government’s commitment to an independent judicial system, and respect for rule of law.

During the briefing held at Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar reiterated the foundation for Pakistan’s continued pursuit of its key foreign policy goals on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual respect, mutual benefit, non-interference and peaceful settlement of all issues.

She also spoke about the smooth transition to a new elected Prime Minister, and the government’s abiding commitment to strengthening democracy.
