ISLAMABAD - While maintaining the tariff for all categories of gas consumers except domestic, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MP&NR) has so far decided to provide cheaper gas only to the domestic consumers with the start of July (new fiscal year).Well-placed sources aware of the development informed TheNation that MP&NR has decide to decrease the tariff for domestic consumers by Rs15.41/mmbtu while tariff would be maintained for all consumers of other categories in the country. They said provinces would generate revenues worth of Rs25 billion while maintaining the tariff for rest of all categories of gas consumers. However, owing to stay order granted by honourable Sindh High Court (SHC), the domestic consumers would be deprived of relief worth of Rs18/mmbtu. They said now collection from the consumers would be at 7 per cent instead of 4.5pc on account of Unaccounted for Gas (UfG) due to stay order granted by honourable court.It was also learnt that the tariff for domestic consumers using 100 cubic meters of gas would stand at Rs118.41/mmbtu after reduction from Rs122.95/mmbtu while over using 100 to 300cubic meter of gas, the tariff would reduce from Rs245.89/mmbtu to Rs236.81/mmbtu and over using 300 to 500cubic meter of gas, the tariff would be reduced from Rs1035.34/mmbtu to 997.10/mmbtu. Similarly, over using more than 500 cubic meter of gas, the domestic tariff would stand at Rs1254.35/mmbtu after a decrease from Rs1302.46/mmbtu. Moreover, tariff for the consumers of special commercial Tandoors over using 100 cubic meters of gas would also stand at 118.41/mmbtu after reducing from Rs122.95/mmbtu while over using 100 to 300 cubic meters of gas, the tariff would witness a decline from Rs245.89/mmbtu and would stand at Rs236.81/mmbtu. It is worth mentioning here that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on the advice of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources would issue a notification of decline only in the tariff of domestic gas consumers on 30th June.
