LAHORE – The Coopera School of Arts, under the auspices of Coopera Art Gallery, organised the ‘Portrait Art Competition 2012’ on Thursday.

More than 100 students from different art institutions – including Lahore College for Women University, Government College University, Ayesha Degree College, Punjab University College of Arts and Design, Gulberg College for Women, Defence College for Women Lahore, DPS Faisalabad, DPS (GMA) Campus, Alhamra Arts Council Lahore and others – took part in the competition.

The objective of the completion was to encourage art students and enhance their skills in drawing. The students prepared a portrait in two hours using medium like pencil, charcoal and pastel. Their drawings were judged by four well-known artists and art educationists Ali Azmat, Amjad Naeem and Liaqa Iqbal.

Prof Saeed Akhtar, a renowned artist, was the chief guest on the occasion. Javed Iqbal Mughal, Ahsan Javaid and Amna Ahmad won the first, second and third prizes, respectively. It was the first programme by the Coopera School of Arts, Lahore.
