BAHAWALPUR - Convener divisional emergency management on loadshedding MNA Baligur Rehman said that unscheduled loadshedding had affected people adversely and left people with no option but to resort to protest.

He was addressing a meeting of the divisional committee at Commissioner office here. Punjab Minister for Prisons Malik Muhammad Channar, Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi, DCO Dr Naeem Rauf and DPO Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir were present on the occasion.

Engineer Baligur Rehman said that protest was the democratic right of people, however, ransacking the government or private buildings and violence was illegal and must be avoided. The Punjab government has constituted monitoring teams on Divisional level which are monitoring protests against power loadshedding to avert unpleasant incidents. He further said that the Wapda should stop unscheduled loadshedding forthwith and schedule of outages should be sent to Commissioner office on daily basis.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said that duration of loadshedding should be reduced and the Mepco should also stop over billing to provide relief to the outages hit people.
