HAFIZABAD - The victim of Hafizabad’s biggest-ever dacoity of Rs100 million in February last, has deplored that despite transfer of two District Police Officers (DPOs) over the past six months, the Police Department had failed to arrest the criminals involved in the dacoity.

While talking to this scribe, he deplored that he himself went up to Karachi to trace the suspect and even got one of the accused arrested “but the favourite of former DPO” set him free after extorting Rs0.6 million.

He revealed that he took up the matter with the IG Police, who is very kindly and he transferred the former DPO for failure to accomplish the task regarding tracing out the criminals of the dacoity.

He said that on the night between 11 and 12 February at wee hours more than 20 dacoits with gas cutters broken into his Jewellery Shop situated at congested Mian Bazaar, hardly 100 yards away from Police Rescue 15 and the City Police Station and they remained busy in cutting iron safe with gas cutters for more than 2 hours but no police patrol checked them which was surprising. He suspected some policemen and the then SHO involved in the crime. He said although on his complaint the then SHQ had been transferred out of the district but yet the police failed to trace his dacoity. He said that during his recent meeting with the IG who very kindly transferred the former DPO Karamatullah Malik on Friday and posted PSP Officer here. He hoped that the newly appointed DPO would spare no pain in tracing the dacoity and arrest the accused involved in it.

According to sources in the police, former DPO Karamatullah Malik was transferred forthwith on Friday last due to favouritism and corruption and failure to achieve the target of arresting the criminals biggest-ever dacoity, assigned by the IGP and RPO during his posting here.
