Refusal of young doctors to serve in the hospitals and subsequent launch of strike has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner, Advocate Azhar Siddiq, bears the stance that the strike launched by young doctors is against the spirit of fundamental rights and also negates the sanctity of medical profession.

The petitioner requested the court to cancel the licenses of young doctors who are on strike.

If a patient dies due to the strike of young doctors, they should be accused for the death and stern action must be taken against them, the petition says.

According to the petition, it should be investigated whether degrees of the young doctors have been acquired from an accredited educational institution or not.

Meanwhile, the government of Punjab has issued notification according to which each absentee doctor will be sentenced to one-year imprisonment.

According to the notification, medical service will now fall under institutions of people’s services and action will be taken against the violators according to the services’ rules.
