Patronised by influential persons including politicians, a patwari and a tehsildar, qabza mafia has allegedly started grabbing state and private lands here.

Irked by the activities of the qabza mafia, the affected people held a protest demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club for provision of justice. They demanded that the Punjab chief minister should take stern action against the mafia and those patronised it.

The protesters from Farid Colony, Burewala said that the residents were faced with fear, threats and loss of property due to the mafia’s activities. They alleged that the mafia was being patoronised by Naib Tehsildar Taqi Shah and Patwari Abdul Khaliq. The protesters including Maqbool, Taj, Mubeen, Rizwan, Javed, Farrukh, Sardar, Shabbir, Sardar Dogar, Kashir Salim and Naeem said that they had repeated brought the situation into the notice of the authorities concerned but to no avail. They demanded strict action against the mafia.
