LAHORE  - NPT Chairman and The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami, in his presidential address to the participants of the Youm-e-Takbeer on Wednesday, said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before deciding on nuclear explosions called a meeting of the editors.

“I exhorted Sharif to go ahead with the explosions otherwise Pakistani nation would blow him up,” Nizami added. After making the explosion, Nawaz Sharif phoned him and congratulated him saying “Now, you don’t have to blow me up”, he added. Dr Nizami expressed satisfaction over the fact that their nuclear deterrent was intact.

Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad observed that Pakistan was a nuclear power on the material side, whereas on the spiritual side, it was an even greater power, thanks to the ideology of Pakistan. He praised Shahbaz Sharif for his generous cooperation with the construction of the Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam and suggested that the federal government should follow it.

Lt Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan recreated the whole scenario that existed before the explosions were made. He recalled that Vajpayee and his team had issued threats to Pakistan. General Zanny came from the US to issue such threats, he added. He said that the Chaghi hills saw the day when Paksitan was declared atomic power.
