Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would lay the foundation stone of two coal power projects at Qadarabad here on Friday.

These projects will be completed within a record period of 30 months. The construction of these power plants will help overcome the energy crisis. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar federal and provincial ministers, members of parliament, the ambassador of China in Pakistan and representative of China companies will participate in the function.

The district administration has finalised the arrangements for this event. Sahwial city has been decorated with welcoming banners and billboard while special attention has been given to sanitation.

Experts say that the 1,320 megawatts projects would be a milestone in the development of the area. They expect the project would create jobs and a new era of industrial development will start.

The government is adopting different measures for elimination of energy crisis. According to experts, these plants would be equipped with modern fifth generation technology and there was no danger of environmental pollution.

DCO Sahwial Dr Sajid Mehmood said that Sahiwal had been selected for the projects due to its geographical importance. He said that the government had acquired the land by appropriately paying the owners. He said that out of 970 owners, over 700 had received their compensation checks.
