LAHORE Provincial PPP President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich on Monday censured Shah Mahmood Qureshi for his statement wherein the former foreign minister had claimed that the countrys nuclear assets were unsafe under President Asif Ali Zardari. Addressing a news conference at the partys Faisal Town Secretariat, Safdar called Qureshi a highly irresponsible person, who was telling the world that Pakistans nuclear assets were unsafe. General Secretary Sami Ullah Khan and Deputy Secretary Usman Saleem Malik were present on the occasion. The PPP is the creator of nuclear programme and knows how to protect it, he said, adding that the partys founder Z.A. Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had sacrificed their lives for this very purpose. The PPP leader further said that it was strange to see Shah Mahmood Qureshi first declaring nuclear assets as safe (when he was foreign minister) and now taking quite a different stance on the issue. He said Shah Mahmood was a political pigmy and was criticising the President to raise his political stature. He suspected that Shah Mahmood might join PML-N in the days to come, as he did not criticise the Punjab government in his Ghotki public gathering after meeting Mian Nawaz Sharif before joining the PTI.
