The two day capacity-building workshop on “Analysis and Crisis Response (Disaster Management) attended by eminent icons belonging to diverse segments of the civil society of AJK and GB concluded with a unanimous emphasis to raise awareness among the masses to deal with any eventuality in case of any natural or unnatural catastrophe.

The participants, including eminent personalities representing diverse segments of AJK civil society and GB including senior journalists, lawyers, political activists, social workers, peace activists, academicians, research scholars and analysts stressed the need for capacity-building of civil society organisations in terms of disasters and calamities.

It was hosted by eminent Civil Society Organization of AJK Centre for Peace, Development and Reform (CPDR) with the coordination of UK-based NGO - Conciliation Resources.Highlighting objectives of the workshop, experts and facilitators including Sardar Tahir Aziz and Ms Charlotte, CPDR Executive Director Ershad Mehmood, Project Director Dr Syed Waqas Ali Kousar, KIIR Executive Director Sardar Amjad Yousaf, senior Hurriyat Leader Altaf Hussain Wani, Ms Attiya Anwar, senior Kashmiri journalist and analyst Altaf Hamid Rao, and others eulogised the sincere endeavours for the peace-loving forces for the promotion and establishment of peace in the conflict zones across the globe including the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir.

The organizers said that capacities for peace was a project under taken by the Conciliation Resources and Safer World under the instrument of stability. The project involves working with local eminent personalities from different sections of the civil society to enhance effectiveness of early warning and early action in 32 conflict-affected contexts.
