LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek Executive Council has demanded the immediate release of its arrested workers and showed concern over delay in investigation of Model Town tragedy.

PAT President Rahique Ahmed Abbasi presided over the meeting at Minhaj Secretariat on Tuesday. The council announced that Dr Tahirul Qadri will be back in Pakistan according to schedule. The meeting also demanded of the government to take back the recent rise in electricity tariff and not conduct load shedding during Muharram.

Rahique Abbasi, addressing the meeting, said that new political scenario would emerge after Muharram. He held that PML-N was passing through an internal disintegrating and the rulers were busy in non-issue instead of resolving the common man problems. “PAT will launch a protest movement across the country after the arrival of Dr Qadri,” said Abbasi. The meeting through a resolution demanded of the judiciary to take notice of human rights violation at every level in Punjab.

PAT leader Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Basharat Jaspal and other attended the meeting.
