LAHORE - Supreme Court of Pakistan Tuesday dismissed ex-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association (KPOA) president Syed Aaqil Shah’s appeal and confirmed the orders of Peshawar High Court (PHC), according to which the KPOA headed by Senator Ghulam Ali is the legal sports body of the province. In a statement issued by Gen Sahi-led Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) manager media Col (r) Mujahid Ullah Khan Tareen, Aaqil Shah, who is also the senior vice president of POA, had been elected unopposed as KPOA’s president for the third time in a row. However, his elections had been challenged by Ghulam Ali, a politician of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) in Peshawar High Court (PHC), which later declared the elections held by Aaqil Shah as null and void and advised the KPOA to hold its new elections.–PR
