LAHORE - Pakistan Railway Employees Prem Union Senior Vice-President Sheikh Mohammad Anwar has said that Railways Administration had stopped the supply of medicines to the out doors of Railways hospitals after revoking Traveling Allowance, Over Time and GPF of over 86,000 Railways employees. He said this while addressing a protest rally at Railway Caren Hospital here on Tuesday. Those who spoke on the occasion include Secretary General Sagheer Ahmed Cheema, Chief Organiser Mehmoodul Ahad, Headquarter Division President Tanveer Alvi, Khalid Mehmood Ch, Qazi Abdul Wadood, Ramazan Bawa, Muazzam Chaudhry, Iftikhar Ali Khan and Haji Abdul Aziz. Sheikh Mohammad Anwar said Railways management is gradually withdrawing all facilities from its employees. He threatened if these facilities would not be restored within a course of time, the workers would not have any option left but to cordon off the offices of corrupt officials. Later, the protestors blocked Allama Iqbal Road by setting tyres on fire outside Karen Hospital and burnt effigy of privatisation. They also staged a temporary sit-in at the main road. Sheikh Anwar maintained that constantly increasing inflation in the country has broken the backbone of common people whereas Railways administration has put the last nail in the coffin of labourers by withdrawing overtime, TA and medicine facilities. Deputy Secretary General Sagheer Ahmad Cheema demanded the administration to immediately regularize TLA staff while 5per cent reduction should be stopped adding that not only revoked facilities should be restored but salaries of employees should also be increased according to inflation. The suspended trains should also be restored to increase the earnings of department, he further demanded.
