ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Police will ensure peace and tranquillity in the city at every cost and forward the names of gallant cops for police medals, who got injured but stood firm during the protests in bid to maintain law and order.

It was stated by Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan, while addressing the gathering of cops who performed duties during protests against blasphemous film in the city and foiled the designs of mischievous elements to harm public and government property.

The IGP distributed awards and commendation certificates among these policemen and said that Islamabad police is proud of the gallant cops, who have the ability to counter any challenge with responsibility.

DIG Security Ahmed Mukaram, AIG Establishment Khalid Khan Khatak, SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq, SSP (Headquarters) Muhammad Yousuf Malik, all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs were also present on the occasion.

The IGP said that a special committee has been constituted to evaluate the performance of police cops and it would recommend the names for Qauid-i-Azam Police Medal and Pakistan Police Medal over outstanding as well as courageous performance.

The IGP saluted to those police officials who tackled the gathering of more than fifty thousand persons through rationalism and said that 70 policemen also got injured during their attempt to control the people.

He also handed over the cheque of Rs 2,00,000 to the brother of ASI Sher Ahmed who got seriously injured to foil attempt of mischievous elements to attack at Tarnol Police Station. The IGP also mentioned the spirit of those under training recruits who accomplished their duties with great responsibility despite lack of resources to them.
