Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq, Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference called on President Asif Ali Zardari here in New York on the sidelines of United Nation General Assembly session.

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Ambassador Sherry Rehman and Ambassador Masood Khan were also present during the meeting.

The President during the meeting reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance to continue extending all political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brethren who had rendered countless sacrifices for upholding their dignity and freedom, pleading for equity and justice and the fulfillment of the promise for the effective exercise of their right to self-determination, as envisaged in the relevant UN resolutions.

He said Pakistan believes that result-oriented uninterrupted dialogue process with India would greatly help creating a conducive environment to find permanent solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

The President reiterated his call to the international community to focus its attention towards the plight of Kashmiri people who have been waging a legitimate struggle for their right of self-determination for over six decades despite suffering huge losses and human rights violations.

Chairman APHC Mohammad Umar Farooq thanked the President for the support extended to the people of Jammu & Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.
