ISLAMABAD - Newspapers hawkers voiced strong protest against the police highhandedness in preventing them from selling newspapers at traffic signals. “We are from the poor segment of society and earn livelihood for our families by selling the newspapers at traffic signals. But Margalla and Kohsar police have deprived us of our only source of earning.

They not only snatched bundles of newspapers but also lifted us and harassed us as if we were some terrorists,” said a group of hawkers.

“Most of us are handicapped and can not do any other job. We all have to support our big families but police has left our families and us on the brink of starving to death,” they complained.
