RAHIM YAR KHAN - Hundreds of students held a protest demonstration against the unavailability of electricity and water at Government Tameer-e-Millat Girls High School here.

Electricity supply to the school was disconnected 15 days ago. Ayesha, a protesting student told the media that the students are facing difficulties due to the absence of electricity. She added that in the hot weather, they were facing problems as due to the recent rainfalls mosquitoes and bees were everywhere.

She said that there was a shortage of potable water in their school as well even the toilets are also without the facility.

She also said that the accumulated rainwater in the school could spread of contagious disease. The protesting students demanded water and electricity supplies.

However, Wapda official said that transformer was become dysfunctional during the rainfalls while the Education Department had not complained in this regard. On the other hadn, the education officials said that they had informed Mepco on the day the transformer went dysfunctional.

Senior Headmistress Muhtarma Tanveer Fatima said that they informed Wapda officials in written but they returned the application with the objection that they cannot repair the transformer.
