LAHORE - Pakistan has huge potential of earning foreign exchange through export of chicken products as the local companies have achieved excellence in high levels of quality and international standards.

This was stated by Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa while inaugurating a three-day International Poultry Expo-2012 at Expo Centre.  The show was organised by the Pakistan Poultry Association. On the occasion, the Expo Chief Organiser Khalid Saleem Malik, PPA North Zone chairman Dr Arshad Hanif Ch and central chairman Dr Hassan Sarosh also addressed.

The governor appreciated the participation of local and foreign companies, large number of poultry related experts, businessmen, industrialists and womenfolk in the international poultry show “Poultry Expo 2012”.

Latif Khan Khosa said that collective efforts is the guarantee for country’s economic stability and improvement. Solid steps require for the development of poultry industry and the government will provide full security and safety for foreign investors in this regard. He said government will also provide support to strengthen the poultry sector in the country.

Later on, answering the various questions of media persons Governor Punjab said that slightest hint of blasphemy and slander against the Holy Prophet (PCBU) will surely not be tolerated. He further said that the way in which President Asif Ali Zardari has represented the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and reiterated each of its citizen sentiments is highly praise worthy.

PPA Central Chairman said that poultry industry is the second largest industry after textile, as over 1.5 million people are affiliated with this industry and are earning their livelihood. There is a need to take constructive steps by the government to affectively standardize this industry, so it can compete with foreign market, he demanded.

The PPA office-bearers said that local companies Quality Assurance Lab monitors and regulates the integrated poultry operations to ensure their chicken products are wholesome, safe and healthy.

They appreciated the arrangements of international poultry expo and said this expo gathered all the stakeholders of the industry on one platform and it would pave the way to uplift the industry. They said new approach; technology and equipments are being adopted and eventually both the economy and the industry would reap the benefits of it.

They said poultry farming is the single largest rural job provider, engaging workers directly or indirectly and is engaged in socio-economic uplift of the rural population.

Adil Sattar of K&N’s also received an award from Governor Punjab Latif Khan Khosa for producing best class chicken products in the market. Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan will the chief guest of the second day of the poultry expo, besides inaugurating and cooking competition organised by K&N’s on Saturday at main convention Hall.

Khalil said that K&N’s-sponsored cooking competition has been the main event for many years and womenfolk including students of colleges, universities and housewives specially participate in the competition with fervor.
