KARACHI - The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP BSC) and designated branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will remain open on Saturday (September 29) and Sunday (September 30) for collection of government taxes and duties.

Field offices of SBP BSC will remain open on September 29 till 8:00pm and on September 30 till 10:00pm, while the designated branches of NBP will remain open on Saturday and Sunday till 8:00pm, says circular issued to the presidents/chief executives of all banks/microfinance banks on Friday.

SBP has also advised all the banks/microfinance banks (MFBs) to provide banking facilities on September 30 till such time that is necessary to facilitate the special clearing by National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT) to be held immediately after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

It may be pointed out that the NIFT will provide special clearing facility after 4.00 p.m. on Sunday (September 30) in order to ensure that all receipts collected on Sunday (September 30) are credited to the Government Accounts on the same date.

Banks/MFBs have been advised to incorporate the impact of September 30 clearings and the permissible activities by designated branches on the same day, in the books of accounts for preparation of their quarterly financial statements.
