Punjab Home Department Deputy Secretary Muhammad Akram, Faisalabad Commissioner Syed Najam Ahmad Shah, District and Sessions Judge Ch Mushtaq Ahmad and DCO Dr Farah Masood visited district jail on Thursday.

They listened to the problems faced of the prisoners. D&SJ Ch Mushtaq Ahmad released on personal surety bonds, 16 prisoners involved in petty cases.

Meanwhile, the commissioner went to Kamalia and met flood affectees in relief camps. He assured them that compensation against loss of their property and crops will be given by the provincial government very soon. DCO Dr Farah Masood told the commissioner that two out of three phases had been completed in flood affected areas regarding their rehabilitation.

ELECTIONS: Elections for farmers organization of tehsel’s Khewra Minor Canal were held on Thursday at Jhang. Ex UC nazim Nadeem Abbas was elected president. Other office-bearers are: vice president Ch Ihsanul Haq, secretary general Soof Attaur Rehman and finance secretary Ch Latif Jat of Chak 409 JB.

CLEANUP DRIVE: The TMA’s cleanup operation against encroachments continued in the city on Thursday. The TMA staff removed unlawful constructions outside houses of Canal View Road .Earlier, Sadar and Shorkot bazaars were cleared from encroachments.
