The Punjab Education Department approved 254 educational schemes for public sector schools in the district while the schemes would complete at a cost of Rs146.95 million during the current fiscal year, said an official.

EDO (Education) Muhammad Mansha Mayo said that an additional amount of Rs30 million had been released for the district due to the best performance of Toba Education Department across the Punjab. He added that out of the allocated money, Rs45.25 million will be spent for the provision of furniture for 55 girls’ high, 91 girls’ elementary and 46 girls’ primary schools. Moreover, Rs14.7 million will be spent to set up IT laboratories in nine boys and 14 girls’ schools of the district.

He disclosed that the buildings of three schools including Government Islamia Secondary School Eidgah Road, Government Model High School Jhang Road and Government Girls High School Gojra had been declared dangerous, and that Rs26.83 million will be spent on the reconstruction of these buildings.

ELECTIONS: Gojra Press Club elections for 2014 were held on Sunday. New office-bearers include President Saqib Mamood Butt, Senior Vice President Omer Farooq. Secretary General Amjad Islam, VPs Rana Iqbal Janbaz and Dr Abdul Salam, joint Secretary Zahid, Secretary Finance Nasir Mehmood, Secretary Information Dr Aftab Akram and Programme Organiser Rana Saeed.

Executive committee members include Haji Sadiq, Khalid Ch, Abdul Razzaq, Shahid, Asim Majeed, Gulzar Baig and Dr Muhammad Hussain while Abdul Latif Sahu was elected as chief patron, Dr Asif Mehmood as executive committee chairman and Rana Muhammad Azeem as vice chairman.
