ISLAMABAD - Six passengers were killed while 30 other got multiple injuries when an Islamabad-bound passenger bus hit a container at least seven kilometres away from Islamabad Motorway Toll plaza on Sunday morning.

According to police, bus driver fell asleep while driving and as a result speeding bus collided with the container and turned turtle. According to eyewitnesses, collision left people trapped inside the bus. Soon after getting information, rescue teams reached the place of accident and used cutters to evacuate both injured and dead stranded inside the bus.

Rescue teams shifted both the dead and injured to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi for treatment.  Dr Ayesha of PIMS confirmed to journalists that that six people were killed, adding that three of the injured - including a child - were in critical condition. "Doctors are striving hard to save life of injured ones. We will provide excellent treatment to everyone," she maintained. Emergency was been declared at the hospital and additional doctors have been called in to provide treatment to injured ones, she further added.

According to officials of Motorway police, driver of bus was driving the bus for continuous nine hours and fell asleep that led to horrible accident. According to Inspector Hammad of Motorway, a driver can only drive a public transport for only five hours. He told The Nation that police got registered a case against the driver and owner of bus at Naseerabad police station under section 322, 279, 427, and 327 PPC.
