BAHAWALPUR (STAFF REPORTER):  Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) Chancellor Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar will be the chief guest at 6th convocation of the university scheduled for December 31 (Tomorrow).

This was disclosed by the IUB Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar here the other day. He said that during the past 35 years of the IUB history, only five convocations had been held so far while it would be the 2nd convocation during last three years in his tenure as the IUB VC.

Dr Mukhtar said that 3,384 graduates of the 2009 academic session would be awarded degrees including 46 PhD, and 143 MPhil degrees.

He said that the students would also be honored with 82 gold medals and 81 silver medals keeping in view their distinction in different disciplines.

He also disclosed that the university would also award honorary PhD degree to the renowned Broadcaster Raza Ali Abidi of BBC in recognition of his remarkable services in the field of broadcasting and promotion of national language Urdu at the international level.
