SUKKUR - Peace festival will be organised in Khairpur to foster peace, tolerance and brotherhood.

MNA Nafisa Shah, Secretary of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), IA Rehman, Commissioner Sukkur Dr Niaz Abbasi, DIG Sukkur Police Sharjeel Kareem Kharl and other will be the distinguished guests at the Festival.

According to a press release issued here on Sunday, Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA) in collaboration of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur and Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Art and Humanities (IUCPSS) will organise the national level festival on December 31, 2013 from 9:00 am to till late in the night at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

Inauguration session will be presided over by Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr. Parveen Shah while the chief guest of the event will be Secretary of HRCP, I.A. Rehman.

Other programmes will include a stall on information and material on handicrafts, peace conference, book fair titled “My Book My Friend”,

drawing competition on the topic “Ban on Weapons”, documentary on the topic of “Tribal Conflicts”, speech competitions among students of universities and colleges, tableaux (tableaux) and peace songs competition among the students of secondary and higher secondary schools and

an interactive theatre on peace issues.

In the evening from 7:00 pm onwards certificates, prizes and awards will be distributed among the successful students, and social workers as well as peace promoters Sindh Amn Forum. A theatre on the life and achievements of Baghat Kanwar Ram will also be presented in the evening.

In addition, renowned Sufi singers Jamal din Faqir, Zulfiqar Ali, Hanif Lashari and Ayaz Mallah will present sufi songs.

Prominent personalities like MPA Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, social and

political personality Syed Javed Shah Jillani, Director PILER Karamat Ali,  famous social activist Adam Malik,  focal person HEC, Murtaza Noor, focal person of IUCPSS, Prof. Dr. Yousuf Khushk, Khadim  Mirani and others  will present their papers an messages related to peace, tolerance and brotherhood at the event.
