LAHORE – Finally the City Police, which itself lacks professional training to nab hardened criminals involved in recent series of bank dacoities, have decided to impart education and training among security guards and bank managers to avert further incidents, it is reliably learnt.

Special training courses will be started in each Police Division from the upcoming week on Circle Level. According to the plan, this brainchild of the Provincial Police Chief Javed Iqbal is firstly being implemented herein the Punjab Capital, which will be extended in other districts of the province in case the plan gives positives outcomes. The SP said that these security guards will be trained in different categories including apprehending and attacking style during any robbery bid, using weapons, and also making them safe during such incidents. To a query, he said as, “We have learned several security guards have never even used weapons and have little knowledge about the maintenance of the firearms”. The cop said that after conducting such training course, the police officers would be in position to guide the banks managers about mental and physical skills of their guards. Reportedly, the both divisional SPs – Omer Saeed Malik and Liaqat Ali Malik – have divided the Civil Lines police division into four Circles for this training course. In each Circle, 40 banks managers along with their security guards will be invited in training course here at the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines during upcoming week.
