LAHORE – In order to let down the impression of poor performance regarding bank dacoities in the provincial capital, two police divisions, motorway police, CIA Police, investigating wing and other wings of the City Police gathered on Sunday to swallow up the credit of recovering a citizen within a day.

The police officers, who were seen in line to take credit included the City Police Chief Ahmed Raza Tahir, DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, SSP Investigation Abdul Razaq Cheema, SP CIA Omer Virk, SP Saddar Division Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, SP Cantonment Hashmat Kamal, ASP Chung Jehanzaib Khan, SHO Nawab Town Tahir Ikram, SHO Township Rashid Ameen Butt, SHO Quaid-e-Azam Industrial State and others officer. The CCPO, however, succeeded in maneuvering the situation when the journalists sprayed a volley of questions asking developments regarding Shahbaz Taseer and the US citizen Warren Weinstein’s kidnapping from the provincial capital.

Addressing the press conference at his office, the CCPO said the City police recovered a citizen namely Feroze Hassan Khan early on Sunday, 14 hours after he was allegedly abducted on Saturday from Alipur Road at gunpoint in Nawab Town police area. The CCPO claimed five kidnappers abducted the man along with his car  and headed towards Islamabad. “However, due to timely cooperation by security agencies and a motorways officer, the police rounded up the vehicle near Salt Range Interchange, but the accused fled,” he added. Disrupting the conversation of the CCPO, the DIG Operations, SP CIA and SP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz started speaking on this occasion and seemed quite eager to take the credit. “Yes, I myself was present on that occasion when we recovered the kidnapped man,” SP CIA told the media persons. GM Dogar said he personally supervised the entire operation whereas SP Saddar claimed he himself drove the car chasing the culprits. Umer Rasheed, friend of the kidnapped person, said SP Hashmat Kamal and ASP Jehanzaib traced the culprits, whatsoever they managed to flee the scene but the kidnapped was recovered safely.
