ISLAMABAD  – Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) had ensured participation of Pakistani business delegations in 215 fairs and exhibitions worldwide during last three years.

Pakistan participated in 73 exhibitions during 2008-09 while it attended 62 events during 2009-10 and 80 during 2010-11 to showcase Pakistani products at the international level and enhance export.According to an official source here on Sunday, participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions is one of the most important marketing tool for the promotion of Pakistan’s products in the market.

He said participation in the fairs also provides a unique opportunity to exporters to showcase their products to international buyers and negotiate business deals.

The official said participation in fairs has played a key role in enhancing Pakistan’s exports, adding that in the year 2004-05, Pakistan’s total exports were $14.391b which increased to $25b in 2010-2011. He said subsidy is being provided towards stall costs to exhibitors from various export sectors participating in exhibitions under the banner of TDAP.  This includes textile products 50%, other core products 60% and developmental product 70%.

The official said for new exporters and events in ‘new geographic areas,’ the subsidy level on stall cost is 70% for all three categories. Similarly, women entrepreneurs are encouraged by allowing 50% additional subsidy in trade fairs and exhibitions, in pursuance of government’s policy to energize women entrepreneurship.

He said another important aspect of the trade policy is to encourage SMEs, Women Entrepreneurs and new exporters by allowing special quota to them for participation in trade fairs and exhibitions and added TDAP provides 50% subsidy on space rent and stalls construction cost to trade bodies for their participation in product specific events.
